If you are soliciting or looking to request donations in any of the states across the nation, then most likely you will need to register…it’s the law (unless you qualify for exemptions in certain states). In most cases, the states ask charities to register prior to soliciting donations. If you fail to register according to each state law you could be subject to fines, lawsuits and might be forbidden to solicit contributions.
We have conveniently assembled a list of links for each state to help you validate your status with a pending registration or to check if your organization is registered with a specific state.
* Alabama and Louisiana do not offer a directory online. You should contact their office to validate your status.
Arizona, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming have no registration requirements for charitable organizations that are actively soliciting in their states. Only public safety, law enforcement, and veterans’ organizations are required to register in Texas, all others charities are exempt.
If you are looking to obtain a solicitation license in specific states without the hassle of completing the strenuous application process, contact us today and we will be happy to assess your unique needs. We have the experience and knowledge needed to comply with all of the states’ requirements.
If you are unsure about your status with the states, we will be happy to help you.
